As life coach Augusta Scott reminds us in the latest installment of Downtown Abby, November should be a month of gratitude. Let’s, for 30 days, forget about the negatives and focus on the positives. Do not fret over what we don’t have; be grateful for what we do have. In the spirit of Augusta’s column, here are a few things I’m grateful for, as it pertains to this particular issue of Downtown ZEN:
New contributors (see Angela Bosco’s Here & Now on the historic Huntridge Shopping Center and Heather Lang’s whimsical haikus); regular contributors (thanks for your consistently wonderful work, Merideth Spriggs, Amelia Pond, James Collins, Brian Paco Alvarez and Augusta!); Frank Curreri sitting down with video-game voice actor Adam Harrington; Nevada Hall of Fame writer H. Lee Barnes finding ZEN a worthy forum for his work (see his essay on dealing cards at the old Mint); another of the state’s top writers, Jarret Keene, contributing two pieces (a profile of sculptor Randy Mendre and an Off the Ranch on Cosmic Comics); the El Cortez is still alive and kicking (see Fabulous Downtown); the artistic eye of photographer Danny Mollohan; the design talents of our creative director Ryan Brekke; the dedication and perseverance of Chief Editor Mandy Crispin.
And most of all, you, the reader.
